The Office of the Chief Inspector investigates complaints concerning breaches of fundamental rights within designated asylum border facilities. All complaints are handled with strict confidentiality and without undue delay.

Who Can Submit a Complaint

  • An applicant residing at a designated asylum border facility.

  • A legal representative acting on behalf of such an applicant.

Important Notice

For decisions on your asylum application, please contact the International Protection Office (IPO) or the Tribunal for Asylum and Return Appeals (TARA). We cannot assist with these matters.

Scope of Complaints

Complaints must concern an allegation of a breach of fundamental rights within a designated asylum border facility. We investigate both individual and systemic concerns.

What Happens Next

Once received, your complaint is logged and assigned to an Inspector’s representative. You will be contacted to confirm receipt and advised on next steps and timelines.

What We Cannot Do

We cannot review or change decisions on your asylum application, grant protection status, or provide legal advice. For these matters, contact the IPO or TARA.
